Welcome, friend...

I’m so glad you’ve stopped by! It is an honor to have you here right now. I know your time is valuable, so let me jump in and tell you a little of my story. I am a certified trauma-informed mental health coach. My interest in trauma began as a teenager. I realized that events that happened to people around me were having deep effects on how they lived and who they became. I couldn’t name it as “trauma,” but I knew *something* was affecting them. And I had some experiences of my own that resulted in lasting effects that I couldn’t seem to overcome.

Years later when I recognized I was in an abusive marriage, trauma became a reality that seemed larger than life. The abuse was affecting how I thought, how I felt, how I acted and reacted, and how I viewed myself. Even after I found emotional safety away from the marriage, the effects were still in my life. Abuse had left me feeling powerless and small.

I am tenacious by nature, so I dove into neurobiology, trauma research, and griefwork alongside God’s Word. I needed answers for my own life! I began writing a new chapter of healing and growth. Please don’t miss the fact that healing is a lifestyle, not a finish line. I have healed, I am healing, and I will continue to heal. Healing happens in layers and each new layer brings more freedom and wholeness.

As a survivor of decades of psychological abuse, I understand abuse and trauma from the inside. I know what they feel like in the body and the physical damage they can cause. I know how trauma and abuse affect a person’s thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and decisions. My own experiences have given me two great passions:

  • To help women heal from abuse and trauma so they can become whole, healthy women who experience abundant lives.
  • To educate others on what abuse looks like, how it affects victims, how to intervene effectively, and how to support victims meaningfully. I have a special passion to wake up church leaders to the crisis of abuse happening in their congregations so they can be the shepherds God has called to stand in the gap for abused women and children.

I’d be honored to have a virtual conversation with you and hear where you are in your own story. It’s ok if you don’t even know your story yet; I didn’t for decades. It took supportive friends and a skilled therapist to help me put together the pieces of my story and bring clarity to what I had experienced.

If you don’t want to have a conversation, I’d love it if you would click on the “thanks for stopping by” tab at the top and tell me a little about yourself and why you popped by. If I can help you in any way on your journey, I’d be honored to!

Gratefully,

Kathy
